- Curator's comments
- The tomb number is not given in the original Register, but a note in the margin says that the numbers '280' are faintly marked on the pot. However, while Myres' tomb inventory mentions two 'black-slip amphorae: white details' but also '2 [illegible (?) old/ord] amphorae with wavy lines around', it seems from the official copy of this document that the tomb group was allocated to the CM. (See also comment on GR 1894,11-1.529 which was also associated with this tomb in the Regster annotations).
In this variety of Bichrome/Bichrome Red ware the background is fired a dark colour over most of the surface, but with some reserved light areas, against which the added white painted decoration is contrasted.
