Small pottery dish or bowl in the shape of a boat in White Painted ware; hand-made and modelled; oval body with a flat, everted rim, pierced at intervals with pairs of holes; the handle is in the form of a applied human figurine attached to the rim at the 'stern' of the model: he has large pierced eyes, rudimentary limbs but with fingers and toes indicated, the left hand rests on the rim, the right is missing; very fine, thin fabric in drab buff clay, slipped and decorated in black paint with wavy lines and chevrons or zig-zags on the body and bands on the figurine.

- The BM catalogue entry suggests the vessel is an imitation of a basket, but a boat model is more likely. The model is discussed by Carbillet (2011, 226 and fig. 3) in the content of other Bronze Age examples, along with a broader consideration of their possible symbolism.
