Reason for treatment
Check previous joins. Stick. Fill for structural support. Paint.
Surface dust. Object fragmentary, several small fragments not belonging. Floating fragments. Previous restoration apparent: plaster blobs, shellac layers etc.
Decided after consulting curator not to treat object as assembling it would involve huge fills and considerable conservation time, object would need much more storage space and would be more vulnerable.
