For Jennifee Lee, see David Whiting, 'Modern British Potters and their Studios', London 2009, pp. 78-83. See also the artist's website for a series of essays by Edmund de Waal, David Whiting, Alun Graves and others: http://www.jenniferlee.co.uk/essays/whiting.html (accessed 16/10/2015).
This and the following pot (2014,8024.609), were both made at 401½ Workshops on the Wandsworth Road, where Lee had a studio after finishing at the Royal College of Art. Lee has described her method as follows: 'In both pots the coils are added on as flattened coils, almost straps or strips of clay. I first roll a large round coil and flatten it with a rolling pin before adding the strip of clay, usually co,loured clay, to the insdie of the pot and building upwards. Clay is smoothed downwards in the inside and upwaqrds on the outside for a strong bond.' (email to J. Rudoe 9 December 2015). A biscuit firing, is followed by a high firing at between 1220 and 1280.
