Finds were discovered during the archaeological excavations before the Visitor Centre was constructed. The National trust donated all of the finds to the British Museum.

Shield mount, cast, parcel-gilt copper alloy, in the form of an aquatic creature. The surface is gilded and has a thin overlay of silver sheet in three places, attached by soldering. Mineralised remains of wood and leather from the shield board on the underside of the mount. Plus one detached disc-headed copper alloy rivet from the mount, with mineralised remains of wood on the shank.
