This is believed to possibly have belonged to a firearm which is carved in scrimshaw and possibly executed by a sailor on the ship found at Salcombe.
This assemblage was acquired by the British Museum in 1999 with the assistance of the Art Fund (then National Art Collections Fund), the British Museum Friends and the Brooke Sewell Fund.
