- Curator's comments

The album has paper covers and contains 18 pages of watercolour paintings. Each page is captioned in Shan and in English with the name of the tribe depicted. This album is of a known type, and was most likely produced as a souvenir. The departure of Simpson for Gallipoli during the First World War provides a terminus for the album's date.

There is a similar example in Cambridge that was given to J G Scott before 1910 by the Sawbwa of Kengtung.
- Location
- Not on display
- Condition
- The album is in good condition. The front page (with no painted surface) has an edge tear and has some surface dirt. The next two pages have similar tears to the outer edges, but these do not reach the painted areas. There is a small amount of foxing on these pages which should not develop further given correct storage facilities.
