    Accompanying the print is 'An Account of A Profile Figure in Basso Relievo, from the Ruins of Persepolis, in a letter from Richard Strachey, Esq. in the Suite of Captain Malcolm, Ambassador from India to the King of Persia. / Dated Ispahan, [sic] Oct. 9, 1800. / Communicated by Sir Henry Strachey, Bart. F.A.S. to the Society of Antiquaries of London, March 25, 1802. / London: Printed by T. Bensley, Bolt Court, Fleet Street. 1804.', being an extract of the letter over twenty-three lines, stating that Richard Strachey dug up the fragment himself from the 'plain of Merdasht', 'said to have been the tombs of some of the ancient kings' and that is was 'the only curiosity brought from that celebrated spot, by our party.' found 'close to the staircase which leads up to the Hall of Columns, and it must formerly have belonged to one of the figures of the grand procession which ornament the walls of that staircase.
