Mr Charles Stuart Ramsay. Arrived 1912 from N.Z. (1909 from U.K.) Went to war 1915 - France (suffered from gas) (v back to U.K.) Returned Tonga 1920 Niuafoau 1921 -32 - as agent for M. Hedstrom. Three other Europeans. Once a month Mr Ramsay swam out for the mail (as had been burnt when shot ashore by rocket. Wrapped the mail up & tied it to a stick as many boys as were required to carry a parcel each. Inward mail was towed in in a 40lb biscuit tin. Discontinued in 1931 because one boy was taken by a shark - then the mail was land cont. overleaf
