Takayama Masataka (1895-1981) was born in Tokyo. After dropping out of Waseda University he became increasingly interested in photography. His favourite camera was the Eastman Kodak Vest Pocket Camera from which he removed the hood in order to achieve a soft-focus effect that became very popular in the 20s. The present is his second publication. The first edition was published in 1929. No copy in OCLC. (Titus Boeder)
