Hodo shashin (Photojournalism)
- Hodo shashin (Photojournalism)
Photography magazine, vol. 1, no. 8. Numerous plates and illustrations. Japanese text. 8vo. Original flexible boards.
- Published in: Tokyo-to
A typical example of the new photographic style that came to be known as 'patriotic photography' following the consolidation of photographic magazines at the end of 1940. The first half of the magazine shows portraits of celebrities in Japan, while the latter part has a series of photographic reportages from China. Particularly interesting is the essay on a Japanese gunboat bringing up a Chinese junk near Shanghai. This magazine was edited by Matsumoto Noboru and it ran from January 1941 to September 1944.
