Photographic catalogue, first edition. Numerous photographic plates. German text. Square 8vo. Original printed wrappers.
- Published in: Tokyo-to
The present is an extremely rare catalogue from the most important period of his career. Published in Tokyo, it was sent to Germany to accompany an exhibition of Japanese products for daily use held at the Society of German Arts & Crafts (Verein für Deutsches Kunstgewerbe) in Berlin in 1938. Book-design by Kamekura Yusaku (1915-1997) who had joined Nippon Kobo in the same year. Photographically, this book is ahead of it’s time: It reminds one of publications of the 1960s extolling the timeless virtues of Japanese crafts. No copy in OCLC. Only three copies in KVK (Karlsruher Virtueller Katalog). (Titus Boeder, 4/2007)
