In 1926 under the auspices of Asahi Newspaper Co. some four-hundred amateur clubs from Kanto and Kansai were amalgamated into the All-Japan Association of Photographic Societies (Zen Nihon Shashin Renmei), a broad national association that aimed to go beyond styles and schools. In the present work a total of one hundred and four contributions by amateur members were selected by Horino Masao. With textual contributions by some of the leading photographers at the time (Kimura Ihei, Nishiyama Kiyoshi, Nakayama Iwata, Fukuhara Shinzo, Yasui Nakaji, and others) providing artistic and technical insights.
