This monthly magazine was published from March 1924 until December 1940. Photo Times was published in the offices of the Oriental Photo Industrial Company (see item 12) and was originally intended as a mouthpiece for commercial photography. This item should really have been filed in the magazine section, however throughout the 1930s it closely identified with the shinko shashin movement. Tamura Sakae became editor in 1933 and from 1938 onwards the magazine turned increasingly progressive, featuring avant-garde as well as documentary photography. (Titus Boeder, 4/2007)
