- Curator's comments
- The identification of the engraver has been much vexed. The tiny monogram MM is on a coin against the curtain just below the cloud. This led Nagler (IV 1994) to make a highly implausible attribution to Michiel van Mierevelt, who was never an engraver. This was followed by the D+F Hollstein, under Mierevelt (cat.3). The more plausible and attribution to Meier was adopted in the German Hollstein series.
