Geijutsu shashin senshu (A Selection of Art Photography – Amateur Magazine)
- Geijutsu shashin senshu (A Selection of Art Photography – Amateur Magazine)
Photography magazine, first edition. Numerous photographic plates. Japanese text. Large 8vo. Original flexible photographic boards in slipcase.
- Published in: Tokyo-to
A composite volume of the first three issues of Amateur magazine (1922) together with two other photographic publications, to which are added some 80 plates selected by the editors of Amateur. The method of binding up unsold issues of magazines under a new title was frequently employed during the Taisho and early Showa period. This volume was published just 3 months before the Great Kanto Earthquake when Amateur was forced to suspend its publication. It is the plates that make this volume valuable. They include images by the Fukuhara brothers, Kuwata Shozaburo (1855-1932), Matsuyama Shisui (1887-1957), and Otaguro Motoo (1893-1979). Rare. No copy in OCLC. (Titus Boeder, 4/2007)
