Pale aubergine glazed dish
At the imperial kilns, kiln supervisors encouraged experimentation with new monochrome colours resulting from new glaze recipes. This pale, brownish-purple hue is coloured using manganese-cobalt ore in an alkali-lead base glaze. It is a low-firing glaze, maturing at about 1000°C.
