Stem cup with Immortals
This stem cup shows three of the Eight Immortals Zhongli quan, Han Xiangzi and Li Tieguai with attendants on the porcelain cup, all in rocky landscapes. The Eight Immortals are a combination of male and female historical and legendary figures, each identified by different costume and attributes. For example Zhong Liquan is recognised by his top knots and fan, Han Xiangzi plays a flute and Li Tieguai has a ‘grotesque’ face, walks with a crutch and carries a gourd. Inside the stem is a four character inscription.
