Blue-and white bowl with Buddhist emblems
Potters painted this 民窯 (minyao ‘popular kiln’) porcelain bowl with a wide band of scrolling Buddhist emblems and leaves. The organisation of production at Jingdezhen changed radically in the sixteenth century. Potters produced a wider variety of forms and designs and in larger numbers than at any previous period in Jingdezhen’s history.
