Vase with dragon
This four sided vase has a relief-moulded dragon around the neck and is covered in a speckled green glaze. Connoisseurs in China, Europe and Japan have developed a sophisticated vocabulary for describing monochrome porcelains. For example the flecked-green wares such as these are called ‘tea-dust’ glazed wares. The glaze is coloured by iron-pigments.
