Wucai bowl with dragons and immortals
Potters decorated this bowl in a twice-fired technique called 五彩 (wucai ‘five colours’) composed of underglaze blue and overglaze red, yellow, and green. Inside it is painted with a dragon and outside with immortals on waves. One rides a tortoise, one above the wave, two others on cranes. Besides the cranes there are other emblems of longevity such as deer and lingzhi (longevity fungus). The base carries and underglaze blue Wanli reign mark.
