Bowl with lotus petals
This dish is decorated outside with a stylised overlapping lotus petal pattern and is a typical product of the southern Longquan kilns. In the Yuan dynasty, potters working in the Longquan area were unable to recreate the blue-green opaque glazes of the Song dynasty (see case 3), as they increased their production. Merchants exported Longquan ceramics widely. Customers in Southeast and East Asia, the Middle East, Africa and occasionally Europe admired their hard bodies and glossy celadon glazes.
