Porcelain bowl. The bowl has a white body and blue-toned glaze. There is a key-fret design incised beneath the exterior rim, lotus panel beneath, flower incised on interior well, circles with diamonds beneath interior rim, and double chain in slip on the cavetto.

Bowl with incised design
Some of the finest white porcelains were made during the Yongle emperor’s reign. White is the colour of mourning in China and the emperor ordered many porcelains from Jingdezhen to use in ceremonies to mourn his dead parents and to strengthen his claim to the throne.
