Bowl with obscured mark
The Zhengde reign mark (AD1506–1521) on the base of this bowl has been obscured by the addition of an overglaze red and green flower head. There are other Zhengde imperial marked bowls in the collection of the Ardabil Shrine in Iran and in the British Museum’s collections with the mark obscured in this way. Possibly they were made at the end of the Zhengde reign.
