Dish with dragon chasing pearl
Some of the finest white porcelains were made during the Yongle emperor’s reign. Craftsmen added an 暗花 (anhua ‘secret or hidden decoration’) of raised slip, showing two five-clawed dragons chasing each other and their flaming pearls inside. This pattern is only visible when held to the light.
