Porcelain dish with rounded sides. The dish has uneven blue glaze. There is a five-clawed dragon among clouds in centre, with two other dragons chasing a flaming pearl round the sides, and two dragons above a lotus panel border on the back. There is a mark on the base in underglaze blue.

Dish with blue glaze
Potters first incised a five-clawed dragon among clouds in centre, with two other dragons chasing a flaming pearl round the sides. Outside it is incised with two dragons above a lotus panel border. The base carries an underglaze blue Shunzhi period mark.

Reason for treatment
Two chips found on the rim of the dish. Both had been previously filled with plaster which was discoloured and falling away.
Cleaned with acetone, using cotton wool swabs on a satay stick. After cleaning surface wiped with Kleenex tissue to remove the remaining solvent.The two chips were steam cleaned using distilled water; run off dirt and water absorbed into soft tissue paper.Missing areas filled with Fynebond resin mixed with *ARSIL*. Cut back with scalpel and sanded smooth with various grades of abrasive paper. These were then painted in using Golden Acrylics.
Purchased by Sir Percival David from Bluett & Sons on 17th January 1934. Listed in Bluett & Sons Sales Day Book (SDB) vol. 14, p.326, 2177. £45. Bluett's purchased this dish from Tonying, 11th December 1933.
