Room 95 label text: PDF 629 Dish with dragons Potters achieved a new purity of porcelain clay and a new delicacy in vessel shapes at the imperial kilns in the Chenghua era. Improvements were made in the preparation of the cobalt so that the underglaze blue designs appear more even than in earlier periods. Outside this dish is painted with two five-clawed dragons chasing flaming pearls. The base carries a Chenghua reign mark in a double ring.
