Description
Porcelain cup with high sides, flared rim and straight foot. There is a scene of the demolition of Rotterdam during riots in 1690 and a panel containing a cabbage plant in underglaze cobalt blue on exterior, and a man's head draped on a square plinth on centre of interior, below a narrow band of chevrons round the rim. There is a mark on the base. A set with saucer PDF 647.

Room 95 label text: PDF 646 Blue-and-white cup showing the Rotterdam riots Sir Percival David bought very little European market export ware. This small cup and its matching saucer (PDF 647) are painted with a scene copied from a European print showing the demolition of Rotterdam during riots of 1690.
