Room 95 label text: PDF 705 Square pot with landscape scenes This pot was made with a central join which is clearly visible. The sides are painted in Ming wucai style with underglaze cobalt-blue Tai Hu-style rocks, positioned to the right of each of the four sides and enamels. Surrounding the rocks are four different plants together with birds on two sides. These are all enamelled in a subdued palette of green, black, red and yellow enamels. These follow the manner of small format or fan paintings which were popular among the literati in the seventeenth century. There is an apocryphal four character Xuande mark in underglaze blue on the base. Porcelain with underglaze cobalt-blue and overglaze red, green and black enamels Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province 江西省, 景德鎮 Ming dynasty, Chongzhen period, AD 1628–1644
