Porcelain box of inverted T shape with shallow upper and lower sections. There is a sage on a deer-like animal with a servant boy in underglaze blue outlines with overglaze red, green, yellow, aubergine and black enamels on the lid, and floral scrolls on sides. There is an inscription and seals on left side, and a mark on the base.

Box with inscription
On the top of this box is a figure riding on a deer accompanied by a servant. There is a four-character inscription reading梅小処書 (Mei Xiaochu shu ‘Written by Mei Xiaochu’) written vertically in black on the cover and two red seals. There is a four-character Zhengde mark in underglaze blue on the base.
