Room 95 label text: PDF 62 Vase in the form of an ancient jade In the Song dynasty, educated men revived interest in antiques and excavated artefacts from the past. Scholars published manuals illustrating these historical jades and bronzes. Contemporary Song craftsmen reproduced their shapes in other materials in response to commissions from wealthy clients. The new users adapted the functions of the antique objects. This revival of past forms continued in the Ming and Qing dynasties.
