Room 95 label text: PDF 75 Brush washer in the form of a halved peach The dark body and celadon glaze of this brush-washer imitates guan (official) wares of the Southern Song dynasty. Dark clays were used at Jingdezhen in the eighteenth century to create imitations of earlier dark-bodied wares but potters also applied brown washes to the exposed white porcelain body to recreate the紫口鐵足(zikou tiezu ‘purple mouth and iron foot’) of original guan wares made at Hangzhou Stoneware with crackled celadon glaze Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province 江西省, 景德鎮 Qing dynasty, about AD 1700–1900
