Bowl with black glazed mouth rim
Potters in the late Ming and Qing dynasties made copies of Ding wares at Jingdezhen in Jiangxi province, Zhangzhou in Fujian province and in other southern kilns. This white porcelain bowl has an iron-black rim imitating the metal bound rims of Ding wares. Inside it is decorated with two fish among weeds and waves, encircled by a peony scroll, with a classic scroll around the rim. The fish are a visual pun for abundance.
