- Curator's comments
- ‘Kanjaku’ (翫雀) was Utaemon IV’s poetry name. A ‘monbi’ was a special fête day in the pleasure quarters. There were from one to six such ‘monbi’ in a month, and on each occasion the courtesans’ fees doubled and they were obliged to secure customers in advance. (Paul Griffith, 12 May 2011.)
