Short silk jacket (hanjuban) with horizontal bands of white, grey and deep indigo on body of garment only: sleeves are in a different patterned material. The bands of colour were dyed in the shibori method; pleating, folding, and wrapping the cloth around a core, prior to dyeing. See Shibori, Wada, Rice, Barton, 1983, pl. 206.
