Photobook. One volume. First edition.
- Made in: Tokyo-to
Onaka Koji was born in Fukuoka in 1960. After graduating from the Tokyo Photography College in 1982 he established a gallery in Shinjuku. His first book entitled 'A Tall Golden Rod' (Seitaka Awadachiso) was published by Sokyu-sha in 1991. The present work is a beautifully printed book full of nostalgic decay and loneliness. One can discern the influence of Moriyama and Fukase. Distance is an exploration both of history and space. Sometimes warm, sometimes cold, the black and white images have a slightly dull tinge that befits the subject. No copy in OCLC. (Titus Boeder, 4/07)
