Moriyama's first printed work and a milestone. Divided into two sections each with introductory poems by Shuji Terayama. Moriyama has laid the defining ground-stone for his work of the years to come. He is already experimenting with the technique of 'buro-buke', with hard angles, with photographs of photographs, and film-ends, all mixed up with a dose of rebellion or 'attitude'. Due to the fact that his subjects still have the resonance of the '50s and early '60s the present work is actually far more shocking or impressive to somebody looking at it in the 21st century than his more hard-boiled work from the '80s or '90s. Moriyama won the Newcomer's Award from the Japan Photo Critics Association for this work. Only two copies in OCLC. (Titus Boeder, 4/07)
