  • Curator's comments

"Japan in the 1970s was in the age of industrialization and high economic growth and the time to be called commonly that the life of Japanese people in Japan became rich and convenient. Nevertheless, when I travelled in the rural district, I found several areas where there were only two times of bus services available in a day and I was obliged to walk relying on a map then.! The present book is a continuation of two editions of 'Mura e' that were issued by Asahi Camera (1976) and Tankosha (1980). Images were selected from 2545 negatives taken between 1973 to 1981. (Titus Boeder, 4/07)
