Chicago, Chicago, Chicago is ugly, Chicago is beautiful, Chicago is old, Chicago is young, People, People, People, Hot, Cold, Windy, Chicago I love, Chicago, Chicago. (poem by Ishimoto, p. 221). The images were selected from a large body of photographs taken between 1960 and 1962. Together with the photographer Otsuji Kiyoshi, Ishimoto originally chose around 1000 images. The designer Kamekura Yusaku cut that number down to 200 for the present publication, and arranged them in seven untitled chapters. In the year that Ishimoto took up Japanese nationality, this work established him as a photographer of world renown. Together with a short introduction by Harry Callahan. Uncommon. (Titus Boeder, 4/07)
