Gocho Shigeo was born in Niigata in 1946. From a young age he was afflicted by a number of illnesses that resulted in his being physically handicapped. Yet, he was determined to make the most of his abilities and in 1965 he entered the Kuwasawa design school in Tokyo where he took up photography. After graduating in 1968 he worked both as a graphic designer and a photographer. He died in 1983. The present is Gocho's first publication, one of three published during his life-time. Only 24 of the images are by Gocho, the others are by Sekiguchi Masao, also a competent photographer. No copy in OCLC. (Titus Boeder, 4/07)
