Akiyama follows his minimalist style: Focusing almost exclusively on the writer's head against a black back-drop, each character reveals himself through his expression heightened by subtle lighting as well as the angle from which the image is taken. Every portrait is accompanied by a facsimile sample of the writer's poetry in his own hand. Many of the photographs were published between 1972 and 1975 in a magazine entitled 'Weekly Shosetsu'. Only two copies in OCLC. Works 136.
