What just happened?

To celebrate Vikings Live, we have replaced our Roman alphabet with the runic alphabet used by the Vikings, the Scandinavian ‘Younger Futhark’. The ‘Younger Futhark’ has only 16 letters, so we have used some of the runic letters more than once or combined two runes for one Roman letter.

For an excellent introduction to runes, we recommend Martin Findell’s book published by British Museum Press.

        題款:鴛夢隔星橋間過,清宵飛花,和雨著輕綃。花亦不知春去處,都付春潮。懷抱似非貓,還倩誰描。玉人何處教吹簫。料得也,應憐宋玉,各自無聊。癸酉之春間遊粵嶠,适有美圖四幅屬為題鴉,但從來造物忌才,天孫妬豔,所以霧髩雲鬟,往往摧殘湮沒,以是題襲之處,霞氣冉冉,猶縈于幾席間也。雨田四兄仁大人鑒賞。琴軒李廷薰。
