Dull ,dusty, some light corrosion on the metal parts.Deformed metal parts.
Whole steam cleaned taking care not to soak the textile components-there were signs of previous water damage.Care was also taken to avoid melting and removing the wax inside the knob on top of the helmet. Metal components were reshaped as necessary using fingers and small clamps. A revolving scotchbrite mop was used to remove any corrosion and brighten the metal.Special masks were made in stainless steel to protect the textiles from this process.
