Consolidate running crack on lid. Remove sticky padded tapes from base of jug. Surface clean.
A crack runs through the lid of the object. Remains of old adhesive tape were found on the bottom of the vessel.
As a precautionary measure the crack in the object lid was consolidated with 5% HMG Paraloid B72 (methyl ethyl methacrlylate) in 50:50 Acetone (propan-1-one/dimethyl ketone): Industrial Methylated Spirits (IMS: ethanol, methanol). The adhesive did not penetrate far into the crack but this is at present stable. The padded adhesive tapes were removed manually. The object was cleaned with a 50:50 solution of IMS and de-ionised water using cotton wool swabs and then dried with tissue.
