Reason for treatment
Clean to improve appearance, brightening gold layer. .
Surface covered in a layer of dirt. Gold layer dull. Areas of gilding are now missing.
Surface cleaned with swabs of 5% Diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid pentasodium salt, TritonX100, in distilled water. Rinsed with swabs of distilled water, and left to air dry.
