From a series of six plates of muffs by Hollar, dating from between 1645 and 1647 (New Hollstein 794-799).
A related brush drawing in black wash on a grey prepared ground, heightened with white in the BM (SL,5214.7; ECM 47; Sprinzels 21). See also R. Godfrey, 'Wenceslaus Hollar: A Bohemian Artist in England', New Haven and London, 1994, no. 92B.
