Reason for treatment
Mechanically cleaned with vibrotool and picking but as metal seemed more sound than expected from the thick corrosion products chemical and electrolytic stripping started. Soaked in alkaline glycerol solution to remove carbonates and then 15% calgon to remove oxides. Electrolytic reduction for 23hrs using 5% NaOH electrlyte, 3.5 V 6amps. Then placed in distilled water for intensive washings and low conductivity test for 60weeks till chloride free. Thoroughly dried and given thin coat of incralac.
