Lettered with title, names of designer and etcher, and publication address: 'A Paris ches Huquier rue St Jacque au coin de celle des Mathurins C.P.R.'; the plate usually bears the number '111' in the top right corner, but this part has probably been cut off.
  • Curator's comments

Plate 114 in the complete edition of 'L'Oeuvre de Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier', a set of 118 plates after Meissonnier, published by Huquier from 1742-51. Many of the plates had previously been published in smaller sets: this is one of a pair after the design for the silver altarpiece in the church of Saint-Aignan in Orléans of 1725-30. The plates were engraved in the years 1742/8.
