- Curator's comments
- See Gjerstad 1977 (pp. 32-4) for a discussion of East Greek skyphoi ('Ionian cups') from various parts of Cyprus. The present example belongs to his group 6. Thalmann 1977, 70-2 describes a range of East Greek skyphoi from a group of material excavated on the acropolis in the early 1960s. His cat. nos 66-7 (Group F) are close parallels for the present item. Coldstream discusses exampels from modern excavaitons in the necropoleis of Amathus (1987, 30 nos. 24-35). His no. 34 is very similar in shape, but the reserved bands on the rim and between the handles on 35 are closer to the present example.
