On the general visiting information page, you can see the full opening hours, security and luggage regulations and details of the cloakroom facilities. Note that you may be asked to produce identification along with your Membership card, to verify that you are the Member named on the card.

Please book a free ticket for any Under 16s who are accompanying you to the exhibition.

Let us know you’re coming

If you plan to visit at a specific time please email the Membership Office at friends@britishmuseum.org at least one working day before your visit and we will add you to the guaranteed entry list.

Avoid the most popular times

Weekends are among the most popular times to visit. If the exhibition reaches capacity and you’re not on the guaranteed entry list, we may ask you to collect a ticket for entry at a later time on the same day. We can suggest some other displays in the Museum for you to visit while you wait.

Consider visiting during one of our out-of-hours opportunities, on a weekday or a Friday night when exhibitions tend to be quieter. Although the last entry for ticket purchasers is 80 minutes before the exhibition closes, Members can enter the exhibition at any time until closing (17.30 daily, 20.20 on Fridays).

Make the most of your Membership

Membership entitles you to 10% off purchases in the Museum’s shops, cafes and restaurant as well as access to the Members’ Room. Don’t forget to pick up your copy of the book that accompanies the exhibition and explore the range of associated merchandise.
